Our counselling service provides a safe and welcoming space to reflect, build coping strategies and strengthen emotional wellbeing. Sessions take place face-to-face at our Huyton base.

Meet Our Counsellors

Julie Wright – BACP Registered and Accredited Counsellor. Julie provides counselling services for both adults and children from age 5 upwards. Julie brings extensive experience in helping individuals manage a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges, including:

  • Building resilience
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Bereavement
  • Low self-esteem
  • Coping with life changes

Our student counsellors are BACP membership students completing their placement (100 hours) with Home-Start Knowsley. They provide free counselling sessions for adults only and can help with low mental health,such as:

  • Managing difficult emotions
  • Coping with transitions
  • Learning coping strategies
  • Improving communication skills
  • Work related stress

Owen CrispinOwen is in his fourth-year of his therapeutic counselling diploma. He joined Home-Start Knowsley in June 2025 to begin his 100-hour placement. Owen is an integrative counsellor, using many different counselling theories to best meet the needs of each individual client. He is passionate about supporting adults to live their best life regardless of life’s challenges by aiding them to understand themselves and develop coping strategies.

Owen works under the supervision of experienced professionals and follows the BACP Ethical Framework to ensure safe, confidential, and compassionate practice. His areas of interest include managing anxiety, improving self-esteem, and supporting individuals through significant life changes

Bethan Boden– Bethan has completed four years of counselling training and joined Home-Start Knowsley in June 2025 to complete her 100-hour placement. She is committed to creating a safe and supportive space for adults to explore their feelings and develop coping strategies.

Bethan works under professional supervision and follows the BACP Ethical Framework to ensure confidentiality and high standards of care. Her areas of interest include helping clients manage anxiety, navigate life changes, and build resilience.

Karen Gray– Karen is a Level 4, second-year counselling student. She is committed to offering a supportive, empathic, and non‑judgemental space where clients can explore their challenges and emotions. Working within an integrative therapeutic approach, Karen tailors her support to each client’s individual needs. She practices under professional supervision and adheres to the BACP Ethical Framework.
